Bad Day At The Urban Garden

Yesterday was a very bad day at the urban garden. When I went out to the landscape yard where we store most of our grounds equipment I discovered that overnight someone had cut the fence and burglarized  the storage container that held most of our mowers and equipment. So most of yesterday was spent dealing with Detectives, Evidence Technicians, and Police Officers.

After doing an inventory it appears that about $12,000.00 worth of equipment was stolen. This is the stuff we use every day mostly so it will severely hamper the grounds operation until it can be replaced. While this equipment does not belong to me personally , it is the hospitals , it does seem like I have been violated. It is a very sinking feeling when you find that someone has come in and taken stuff especially stuff that you use all the time.

Yes we are located in Chicago and yes there is a lot of crime in big cities. I know that the possibility exists for this to happen anywheres but none the less it is a shame. It is a shame that people are too lazy to do an honest days work to take home a pay check. It is a shame they think nothing of taking what is not their’s and not having a thought or care of how it might effect the livelihood of others.

What I think is the biggest shame of all is that these individuals are no better than those things that repulse Civilized Society as a whole. They are no better than rats or cockroaches. They exist by invading and taking from those who work hard to build and store their goods and possessions only to have them ruined or stolen by the pestilence’s of the world.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope you can go back to your usual operations soon.
